Coventry High School Class of 1982 20-Year Reunion
Friday September 20, 2002
The Homecoming Football Game "Meet and Greet" was held in the Erwine Cafeteria. Refreshments were donated by Classic Kitchen Cafe Marielle Ries Parvin, owner.
Pompons and megaphones were handed out to the kids. Joe Clemente planned this wonderful event and everyone had a great time visiting. We watched the Comets defeat Tuslaw 20-0. (at least that is what the score was before the rainstorm hit. Did they finish the game?)
Saturday September 21, 2002
Back To School Tour was conducted by Mr. Hibian at 1:00 p.m. The history of the North Campus was the topic of the presentation. A "Whatever happened to..." discussion followed and Mr. Hibian dished the details for us. He treated us to a fun tour of the facility and let us know about the challenges the district faces in maintaing the buildings and the curriculum for the student body. Each classmate attending the tour was presented with a custom made tote bag donated by Brenda Hardy Watts.
The Reunion Dinner Banquet was held Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. Everyone enjoyed the food and service from Anthes at the Lakes
There were Opening Remarks given by Tami Sams Pallotta and Sheila Wellock Fiorella gave the blessing. After dinner, awards were handed out and classmate Stephanie Sworniowski took the microphone. She entertained us with her witty observations on mid-life.
The Guest Speaker,Patti Freeder, former Ohio Teacher of the Year, kept us in stitches as she reminded us all about The Spirit of the Class of 1982. Dancing followed to 80s Music provided by A Solid Gold Sound DJ Service. Each classmate's name tag, digitally made by Steve Breitenbach, included an image of their senior picture! Elise Fisher, Cathy Senn Shepherd, and Dave Poppenhouse raffled off many prizes that were generously donated by our classmates. The grand prize, a ride on the Goodyear Blimp, was won by Pam Kozak, lovely wife of Dan Kozak. Jimmy Bock won the 50/50 drawing.
Diane Miller Davis documented the evening (with her husband's help) and provided the many pictures to be posted on the photo page. The night was coming to a close when the remark was made that nobody wanted to leave. The memory books that were made, assembled, and donated by Elise Fisher Koh will serve as a reference to the party and the people. There were smiles, laughs, a few tears, and fond memories forged that evening.
Proceeds from our 20-year reunion will go toward the Student Council Scholarship Fund and The Alumni Association Trophy Case Project.
We have been considering the suggestion to plan a Class of 1982 Group 40th Birthday Party in Las Vegas the Summer of 2004. Take our opinion poll below and let us know what you think.
